Prometheus Pendant

Prometheus Pendant takes its name from Prometheus — the Titan who committed the greatest act of defiance in Greek mythology: the theft of fire from the gods, given freely to humanity. In the time before Prometheus acted, Zeus had withheld fire from human beings, who lived in cold and darkness without the means to cook their food, warm their homes, or work metal.

Prometheus, the Titan whose name means forethought, saw human suffering and could not accept it. He climbed to Mount Olympus, where Hephaestus kept his forge, and stole fire in a hollow fennel stalk, carrying it down from the divine world into the human one.

As a result of this act, everything changed: fire gave humanity warmth, cookery, metallurgy, and eventually civilization itself. However, the consequence for Prometheus was absolute: Zeus had him chained to a rock in the Caucasus mountains, where an eagle came each day to tear out his liver, which grew back each night to be torn out again.

Furthermore, Prometheus accepted this punishment without recanting. He had known the price before he paid it, because forethought was his nature.

The Prometheus Pendant carries the form of that fire: the disc with its concentric arcs as the sun’s corona, the radiating rings of heat and light that fire casts outward from its source, the gemstone at the centre as the concentrated flame itself.

The Design of the Prometheus Pendant

The Prometheus Pendant translates the radiance of fire into 18k gold. The pendant is a disc — a circular form that radiates authority in every direction, as fire radiates heat. The surface carries concentric arcs: rings that expand outward from a central gemstone, describing the way fire spreads its light and warmth in ever-widening circles.

A diamond, ruby, or sapphire is set at the center: the concentrated point of fire from which all the arcs originate. As a result, the Prometheus Pendant reads as both solar disc and fire source: the gift of Prometheus, the radiance he defied Zeus to give.

The Radiant Arcs

The concentric arcs with their central gemstone are the soul of this design. Specifically, each arc is a ring of gold that catches the light differently from the arc inside it and the arc outside it, so the disc seems to pulse with its own warmth.

Worn close to the body, the Prometheus Pendant radiates outward in all directions with the composed authority of a form that knows its own power.

Furthermore, the gemstone at the center catches the light with the intensity of a concentrated flame: a point of deep color held at the origin of all the arcs. Each Prometheus Pendant was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The concentric arc disc demands digital modeling: every arc must be placed at an exact and consistent radius from the center so the rings read as precisely spaced, the gemstone setting must hold the stone at exactly the focal point of the design, and the pendant must hang true so the disc presents facing outward.

Hand-finishing polishes every arc surface to a high shine. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
