Yaksheen Pendant takes its name from the Yakshinis — the female nature spirits of Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain tradition, among the most ancient sacred presences in the Indian religious imagination.
The Yakshas and Yakshinis predate the major religious traditions of India: they are the original spirits of the natural world, the presences that inhabit particular trees, rivers, mountains, and places of natural power.
A Yakshini is specifically associated with the earth’s fertility and abundance: she is the spirit who dwells in the old trees of the forest, whose energy flows through the roots of things, who guards the places where the natural world is most concentrated and most alive.
As a result, Yakshini figures appear consistently in early Indian sculpture in a specific pose — clinging to or emerging from a tree, their forms entwined with branches and roots, the boundary between the female body and the natural world deliberately blurred.
Furthermore, the Yakshinis carry gemstones: in iconographic tradition, they are associated with the earth’s jewels — the precious stones that the earth herself produces from her depths, the same depths that the Yakshini inhabits and guards.
The Yaksheen Pendant carries the form of that earth-entangled nature spirit: the teardrop as the Yakshini’s seed form, the root tendrils as the tendrils of the tree she inhabits, the gemstone as the jewel she guards from the earth’s depths.
The Design of the Yaksheen Pendant
The Yaksheen Pendant translates the earth-entangled nature spirit into 18k gold. The pendant is a brushed teardrop form — organic, smooth, with the warm quality of a natural object rather than a fabricated one.
Around the base of the teardrop, flowing tendrils reach upward and inward, holding a gemstone at the heart of their embrace: a diamond, ruby, or sapphire held in the root-like tendrils as the Yakshini holds the earth’s jewel.
As a result, the Yaksheen Pendant reads as both jewellery and natural object: the earth spirit’s gift made wearable in gold.
The Root Tendrils
The brushed teardrop with its gemstone-holding root tendrils is the soul of this design. Specifically, the tendrils create a surface of organic movement around the teardrop’s base — flowing, reaching forms that hold the stone with the quality of roots holding a precious thing in the earth’s custody.
Worn close to the body, the Yaksheen Pendant carries the nature spirit’s presence against the skin.
Furthermore, the gemstone held by the tendrils catches the light with the intensity of something found rather than placed — the jewel in the earth, the treasure in the root. In this way, the Yaksheen Pendant carries the essential quality of the Yakshini: the guardian who holds the earth’s most precious things in the embrace of living roots.
Yaksheen Pendant in 18k Gold and Colored Gemstones
In rose gold the brushed teardrop glows with warmth, the root tendrils holding a ruby that burns like the earth’s fire at the heart of the natural world. In white gold the Yaksheen Pendant turns cool and organic, a sapphire reading within the tendrils with the deep blue of groundwater in ancient rock.
In yellow gold it radiates with full golden intensity, a brilliant diamond held by the roots — the earth’s own light, the jewel at the heart of everything. Whichever stone you choose, the tendrils hold it.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Yaksheen Pendant was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The brushed teardrop with root tendrils demands digital modeling: the organic forms must flow with a naturalistic rhythm, the tendrils must hold the gemstone setting securely while reading as living roots, and the pendant must hang true so the teardrop face presents forward.
Hand-finishing creates the brushed surface while polishing the tendrils. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
