Eridanus Pendant
$0.01
A flowing organic pendant in 18k gold, its form drawn from the winding path of a river. The Eridanus pendant takes its name from the constellation Eridanus — the celestial river where Phaethon fell from the sky in Greek mythology.
Made to order in São Paulo in rose, white, or yellow gold.
Eridanus pendant takes its name from Eridanus — the celestial river of Greek mythology and one of the largest constellations in the night sky. In the ancient myth, Eridanus was the river into which Phaethon fell.
Phaethon was the son of Helios, the sun god. He convinced his father to let him drive the solar chariot across the sky. However, he could not control the horses. The chariot veered too close to the earth, scorching it, and too far away, freezing it. Zeus had no choice but to strike him down with a thunderbolt.
Phaethon fell, trailing light, into the river below. The Greeks mapped that fall onto the sky as a great winding river of stars — a long, flowing constellation that traces the arc of something that moved too fast and too far. As a result, Eridanus is the sky’s record of a journey that ended in water.
The Design of the Eridanus Pendant
The Eridanus pendant translates that flowing river into 18k gold. The form is organic and sculptural. It curves and descends from its suspension point in a long, winding shape, following the path of a river rather than the geometry of a grid.
The surface is alive with movement. As a result, the pendant reads differently from every angle. Furthermore, the organic form catches and releases light as it turns, so the Eridanus pendant seems to flow even when it is still.
It is a piece whose beauty is inseparable from its movement, like the river and the constellation it became.
Flow and Light
The winding, continuous form is the soul of this design. Specifically, there is no clear top or bottom to the flow — the river simply moves, and the pendant moves with it. Worn close to the body, the Eridanus pendant catches the light in unexpected places as the wearer moves.
The curves gather light and release it, so the piece seems to breathe. Furthermore, no two angles reveal the same form. In this way, it captures something true about rivers and about the myth: both are in constant motion, and both look different depending on where you stand.
Eridanus Pendant in 18k Gold
In rose gold the flowing form glows with warmth, the curves reading rich and alive like reflected light on a slow-moving river at dusk. In white gold the Eridanus pendant turns cool and bright, the organic surface catching light with clean brilliance.
In yellow, white or rose gold it radiates with full intensity — the most direct echo of the sun and the solar fall that gave the constellation its story. Whichever metal you choose, the Eridanus pendant holds its organic character and its quiet sense of motion.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Eridanus pendant was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing in São Paulo, Brazil.
The organic flowing form demands digital modeling. Every curve must flow continuously from the one before it, the piece must hang correctly so the intended form faces outward when worn, and the profile must read as a river in motion rather than a static shape.
Additionally, the surface must be smooth enough to carry light cleanly across its curves. Hand-finishing then polishes the gold to a high shine. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
A Made-to-Order Piece
Like every Friszman MD creation, the Eridanus pendant is made to order and hand-finished in 18k gold.
