Zarya Pendant

Zarya Pendant takes its name from Zarya — the Slavic goddess of dawn, the celestial spirit who stands at the threshold between night and day and opens the gates of heaven each morning to allow the sun to ride out.

In Slavic mythology, Zarya (also known as Zorya or Zaria) is the personification of the morning star — the aurora, the moment when the eastern sky begins to lighten and the stars fade.

She and her sister, the evening Zorya who closes the gates at dusk, together guard the boundaries of day: the guardians of the threshold, the ones who manage the transition between darkness and light.

As a result, Zarya carries the quality of the beginning: the first quality of morning, before the sun has risen, when the sky holds a particular luminous diffusion that belongs only to that threshold moment. Furthermore, the pearl is Zarya’s own jewel: the stone formed in darkness by light’s refraction, the gem that carries its own inner glow without external illumination, the most lunar and most liminal of all precious materials.

Like the dawn itself, the pearl is neither day nor night but the quality of the threshold: the shimmering luminescence of a sky that is becoming light.

The Zarya Pendant carries the form of that dawn sky: concentric ovals as the rings of expanding light that spread outward from the horizon at the first moment of morning, the pearl at the centre as the concentrated dawn light itself.

The Design of the Zarya Pendant

The Zarya Pendant translates the concentric rings of dawn into 18k gold. The pendant is an arrangement of concentric ovals that radiate from a central pearl: each oval ring a slightly larger version of the last, describing the expansion of light from the horizon outward into the sky at the moment of dawn.

The pearl at the centre holds its own luminescence within the gold rings — the dawn light contained at the exact point from which it is expanding.

As a result, the Zarya Pendant reads as both jewellery and celestial diagram: the dawn made wearable.

The Rings of Dawn

The concentric ovals with their pearl centre are the soul of this design. Specifically, the expanding oval rings create a visual rhythm of outward movement — the eye follows the rings from the pearl’s centre outward, as the dawn’s light moves from the horizon into the full sky.

Worn close to the body, the Zarya Pendant carries the dawn’s expanding quality against the skin. Furthermore, the pearl at the centre holds its own soft glow within the gold rings — not the sharp brilliance of a faceted stone but the diffuse inner luminescence that belongs to the pearl’s own nature, and therefore to the dawn’s.

In this way, the Zarya Pendant carries Zarya’s essential quality: the light that expands from a single threshold point into the fullness of the day.

In rose gold the concentric ovals glow with warmth, the pearl centre reading soft and luminous like the dawn on a warm morning. In white gold the Zarya Pendant turns cool and liminal, the concentric ovals reading with the precision of expanding light on a clear morning, the white pearl glowing at the centre.

In yellow gold the ovals radiate with full golden intensity, a white or black pearl at the centre reading against the vivid gold as the dawn star against the morning sky. Whichever metal you choose, the rings expand from their pearl.

Craftsmanship and 3D Precision

Each Zarya Pendant was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing.

The concentric oval rings demand digital modeling: each oval must be proportioned in correct relationship to the last so the expansion reads as consistent and composed, and the pearl setting must hold the stone securely at exactly the visual centre.

Hand-finishing polishes the gold surfaces to a high shine. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
