Zarya is one of the oldest names in the Slavic tradition, the goddess of the dawn, the one who opens the gates of heaven each morning to let the sun pass through. In Russian folklore she appears as a radiant maiden standing at the edge of the ocean, her reflection spreading across the water as the first light breaks the horizon. The Zarya pendant carries that liminal quality in its form.
