Haygees Pendant

A polished 18k gold cylinder punctuated by recessed matte ovals and circles, a constellation caught in precious metal. Named for Hayk, the legendary Armenian patriarch who became the stars of Orion, the Haygees pendant carries the light of ancient skies close to the heart.
The Haygees pendant takes its name from Hayk, the legendary patriarch of Armenian tradition, the great archer whose defiance of the Babylonian titan Bel became the founding myth of an entire people. According to the ancient chronicles, after his victory Hayk ascended to the heavens and was transformed into the constellation we now call Orion, his bow still drawn, his stars still burning in the winter sky, a permanent reminder that some acts of courage become eternal.
The Haygees pendant carries that celestial quality in its form. A tall cylindrical column of 18k gold, polished on its outer surface, luminous and smooth, is punctuated by a series of recessed oval and circular panels, each one finished in a contrasting matte texture. Large ovals anchor the center, smaller circles cluster at their sides: a composition that echoes the arrangement of stars in a constellation, or the pattern of seeds in a pod, or the cellular structure of something alive and growing.
The contrast between the polished frame and the matte interior of each panel is the heart of the piece. The polished gold catches and throws light. The matte surfaces absorb it, holding it quietly within. It is the same contrast that exists between the brightness of stars and the depth of the sky that holds them, each making the other more itself.
In rose gold, the Haygees pendant is warm and intimate, the constellation close and personal. In white gold, it is cool and distant, the stars sharp against a winter sky. In yellow gold, it is ancient and sovereign, the light of a civilization that built its identity around a man who became a constellation.
