Haygees Pendant

The Haygees pendant takes its name from Hayk, the legendary patriarch of Armenian tradition, the great archer whose defiance of the Babylonian titan Bel became the founding myth of an entire people. According to the ancient chronicles, after his victory Hayk ascended to the heavens and was transformed into the constellation we now call Orion, his bow still drawn, his stars still burning in the winter sky, a permanent reminder that some acts of courage become eternal.

The Haygees pendant carries that celestial quality in its form. A tall cylindrical column of 18k gold, polished on its outer surface, luminous and smooth, is punctuated by a series of recessed oval and circular panels, each one finished in a contrasting matte texture. Large ovals anchor the center, smaller circles cluster at their sides: a composition that echoes the arrangement of stars in a constellation, or the pattern of seeds in a pod, or the cellular structure of something alive and growing.

The contrast between the polished frame and the matte interior of each panel is the heart of the piece. The polished gold catches and throws light.
