Savitr Pendant is an 18k gold pendant inspired by Savitr, the Vedic solar deity of the Gayatri Mantra. An oval mandorla frame encloses a flowing interior in the form of the Om symbol, centered on a bezel-set gemstone. Available in rose gold with ruby, white gold with sapphire, and yellow gold with diamond. Hand-finished in Sao Paulo.
Savitr Pendant is a solar object, a piece of jewelry that carries within its form one of the oldest and most sacred prayers ever composed by the human mind. Named for Savitr, the Vedic solar deity who presides over the light of dawn and dusk, who stretches his golden arms across the horizon to vivify all living things, this pendant is built around the oval frame of the mandorla and filled with a flowing interior that traces, in polished gold, the sacred form of Om, the primordial sound from which, in Hindu cosmology, all of creation emerged and to which it will ultimately return.
Savitr is one of the twelve Adityas, the solar deities of the Rigveda, and it is to him that the Gayatri Mantra is addressed, the most sacred verse in the Hindu tradition, chanted at dawn for millennia by hundreds of millions of practitioners: Om Bhur Bhuva Svah, Tat Savitur Varenyam. The mantra invokes Savitr as the impeller, the vivifier, the force that sets the world in motion each morning and draws it back to rest each evening. He is not merely the sun as a physical body but the sun as a principle, the animating intelligence behind light itself, the radiance that makes perception possible.
The pendant takes the form of a tall oval, the vesica piscis, a sacred geometric shape found across Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, and pre-historic traditions as the symbol of the threshold between two worlds, the eye of the divine, the womb of creation. Within this frame, the interior lines flow in curves and spirals that resolve into the unmistakable form of the Om symbol, one of the most recognized sacred glyphs in human civilization. The upper portion forms the curving body of the numeral-like shape; the lower portion trails into the open curve and the dot that, in Sanskrit typography, represent the bindu — the point of absolute consciousness beyond sound, beyond thought, beyond form.
At the precise center of this sacred interior, a gemstone is set in a polished bezel, the eye at the heart of the symbol, the still point around which the curves of Om revolve. In the rose gold version, a ruby blazes from the center: red as the sun at the horizon, as the fire of the Vedic yajna sacrifice, as the life-force that Savitr pours into the world at every dawn. In the white gold version, a sapphire occupies the center: the blue of the sky through which Savitr drives his golden chariot, the infinite depth of the clear consciousness that the Gayatri Mantra seeks to illuminate. In the yellow gold version, a diamond captures and refracts all light at once, every wavelength of the solar spectrum held in a single point, the full radiance of Savitr rendered in the hardest substance the earth produces.
The pendant is suspended from an integrated bail at the top of the oval frame, a small loop that forms naturally from the upper arc of the design, as if the symbol had always been intended to hang, to be worn close to the heart where the breath that sustains Om originates. The weight and proportion of the piece are calibrated for daily wear: present enough to be felt, light enough to forget.
In the Vedic tradition, wearing the symbol of Savitr was believed to align the wearer with the solar principle, to connect their individual consciousness to the universal intelligence that the sun represents. The Savitr Pendant does not require belief to be beautiful, but for those who carry the Vedic tradition in their heritage or their practice, it carries a second life of meaning beneath its form. Designed and hand-finished in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and made to order in 18k gold with natural gemstones.
