Sedynne Earrings

Spiraling taper stud earrings in 18k gold, each with a bezel-set gemstone at the base. The Sedynne Earrings are named for Sedna, the Inuit sea goddess whose fingers became every creature in the ocean.
Made to order.
Sedynne Earrings take their name and their spiral from Sedna — the Inuit goddess of the sea, whose origin story is one of the most powerful in all of Arctic mythology. In the most widely known version, Sedna was a young woman who fell or was thrown from a boat into the freezing ocean.
As she clung to the side of the boat, her fingers were cut off one by one. As a result, each finger sank into the deep water and transformed: the knuckles became seals, the middle joints became walruses, the tips became whales and fish and all the creatures of the sea.
Sedna herself descended to the ocean floor, where she became the great sea goddess — the mother of all marine life, the one who controls the abundance or scarcity of the creatures that the Inuit depend on for survival.
Furthermore, Sedna’s spiral is the spiral that pulls things downward into depth, the same form as the nautilus shell, the whirlpool, the motion of water descending. The Sedynne Earrings carry that spiral: the tapering form that descends to a point, with a gemstone at its base like the concentrated point of the sea’s depths.
The Design of the Sedynne Earrings
The Sedynne Earrings translate the sacred spiral of the ocean’s depth into 18k gold. Each piece is a spiraling taper stud — a form that begins broad at the ear and descends in a narrowing spiral to a point, its surface following the rotation of a form in motion.
At the base, a gemstone is bezel-set: a diamond, ruby, or sapphire held in a smooth gold collar, reading as the concentrated point of the ocean’s deepest light. As a result, the Sedynne Earrings carry both the motion of the spiral and the stillness of what the spiral arrives at.
The Spiral of the Deep
The spiraling taper with its bezel-set gemstone is the soul of this design. Specifically, the narrowing spiral creates a form that reads as directional and purposeful — something moving toward a point with the inevitability of water descending.
Worn as studs, the Sedynne Earrings present the spiral’s tip toward the viewer, the gemstone reading at the lowest point of the descent. Furthermore, the smooth bezel setting holds the stone without prongs, so the gem reads as contained rather than displayed — like something found at the bottom of the sea, held carefully in the hand.
In this way, the Sedynne Earrings carry Sedna’s essential quality: the power that lives in the deep, available only to those who go far enough down.
Sedynne Earrings in 18k Gold and Colored Gemstones
In rose gold the spiral taper glows with warmth, the bezel-set ruby reading at its tip like a deep-sea creature glimpsed in warm bioluminescence. In white gold the Sedynne Earrings turn cool and luminous, a sapphire in the bezel reading with the blue-black depth of the Arctic ocean.
In yellow gold they radiate with full golden intensity, a brilliant diamond bezel-set at the tip — the clearest possible light at the deepest possible point. Whichever stone you choose, the spiral holds its descent.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Sedynne earring was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The spiraling taper demands digital modeling: the rotation must be consistent along the full length so the form reads as a true spiral, the bezel setting must hold the stone securely at exactly the tip, and the two earrings of a pair must mirror each other exactly. Hand-finishing polishes every surface to a high shine.
This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
