Yshtar Earrings

An angular geometric form of 18k gold rising and descending to sharp points, its border perforated with circles of varying sizes, an open diamond void at its heart. Named for Yshtar, the Babylonian Queen of Heaven whose name was written as a star, these earrings are sacred geometry made wearable: defined as much by what is absent as by what remains.
The Yshtar earrings are named for the most ancient goddess in human history.
Yshtar is an ancient name, older than the Greek, older than the Roman, older than almost any goddess tradition still remembered in the world. She is Ishtar of Babylon, Inanna of Sumer, the Queen of Heaven and Earth whose name was written in cuneiform as a star: an eight-pointed symbol that became the oldest known representation of divinity in human history. She was the goddess of love and war simultaneously, not despite the contradiction but because of it. In the Mesopotamian understanding, the forces that draw people together and the forces that drive them to conflict were the same force, expressed differently. Yshtar held both without flinching.
The Yshtar earrings are built in the spirit of that duality. Their form is angular and precise, a geometric shape that rises to a sharp point at the top and descends to another at the bottom, with an open diamond void at the center that lets light pass directly through. The border of the form is perforated with circular holes of varying sizes, arranged in a pattern that is simultaneously organic and architectural: too deliberate to be random, too alive to be mechanical. The holes diminish toward the tips and cluster toward the center, following a rhythm that echoes the distribution of stars in a constellation, or the pattern of light through ancient temple walls.
This is jewelry conceived as a sacred geometry. The void at the center is not an absence, it is an opening, a passage, the empty space through which something greater moves. The perforations are not decoration, they are the structure itself, the piece defined as much by what has been removed as by what remains.
In yellow gold, the Yshtar earrings are warm and sovereign, the star-goddess at her most ancient and luminous. In rose gold, they are tender and fierce in equal measure, the duality of love and war made wearable. In white gold, they are cool and celestial, the geometry precise and otherworldly.
To wear Yshtar is to carry the oldest star close to the face, and let the world remember what it means.
