Vayunee Earrings

Open-form stud earrings in 18k gold with a sand-brushed surface and a polished wire crossing the central void, inspired by Vayu — the Vedic god of wind and the life force of all breath.
Made to order.
Vayunee Earrings take their name from Vayu — the Vedic and Hindu god of wind, breath, and the invisible life force that animates all living things. Vayu is prana itself: the breath that fills the body and makes it alive, the air that moves through the world and makes existence possible.
He is one of the five great elements of Hindu cosmology — the Pancha Bhuta — as the element of air, and of these five, he is the most paradoxical: the element that is everywhere and nowhere, that cannot be seen but can be felt, that is the condition of all other life without having visible form of its own.
As a result, Vayu is the divine embodiment of the invisible: the force that is only known through its effects, the presence that is felt but never directly seen. Furthermore, Vayu is one of the most powerful deities in the Vedic tradition: he is the first to drink the soma in the Vedic rites, before Indra, before any other god — a mark of extraordinary divine honor.
He is the father of Hanuman, the monkey god of devotion, and of Bhima, the strongest of the five Pandava brothers. In these two sons, Vayu’s nature is made concrete: the extraordinary strength and speed that belong to the wind, given form as a divine offspring.
The Vayunee Earrings carry the form of Vayu’s nature: the open void as the space through which wind moves, the polished wire as the single visible trace of the invisible force, the way you cannot see the wind but can see what it does to a wire stretched across an opening.
The Design of the Vayunee Earrings
The Vayunee Earrings translate the invisibility of wind into 18k gold. Each piece is an open form — a frame with a void at its centre, the space of the wind itself held within a boundary of sand-brushed gold.
Across the void, a single polished wire is stretched: the one element of the earring that catches the light directly, the visible trace of the invisible wind.
As a result, the Vayunee Earrings carry both the quality of open air and the quality of the breath that passes through it.
The Open Void
The open form with its polished wire crossing is the soul of this design. Specifically, the void at the centre of the earring creates a visual space of absence — the space through which Vayu moves, defined by its boundaries rather than by its content.
The polished wire across the void catches the light in a single sharp line, the way a spider’s thread made visible by morning light catches the wind’s passage.
Worn as studs, the Vayunee Earrings present the open form and its wire to the viewer. Furthermore, the contrast between the sand-brushed gold frame and the polished wire creates a surface of texture and line, depth and brightness.
In this way, the Vayunee Earrings carry Vayu’s essential quality: the invisible made perceptible by what crosses its path.
Vayunee Earrings in 18k Gold
In rose gold the open frame glows with warmth, the sand-brushed surface reading intimate and the polished wire reading vivid. In white gold the Vayunee Earrings turn cool and spacious, the void reading with the clarity of open air and the wire catching light with precise brightness.
In yellow gold they radiate with full golden intensity — the wind’s form at its most vivid, the breath of life made golden. Whichever metal you choose, the void holds its openness.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Vayunee earring was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The open form with polished wire demands digital modeling: the frame must be proportioned so the void reads as a genuine open space rather than a merely decorative cutout, the wire must be placed at exactly the right position and angle across the void, and the two earrings of a pair must mirror each other exactly.
Hand-finishing creates the sand-brushed frame surface while polishing the crossing wire to a mirror finish. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
A Made-to-Order Piece
Like every Friszman MD creation, the Vayunee Earrings is made to order and hand-finished in 18k gold.
