Prahimee Pendant

The Prahimee pendant takes its name from Prithvi, the ancient Hindu goddess of the earth, one of the five great elements that form the foundation of all existence in the Vedic tradition. In the Rigveda she is called Prithvi Mata, Earth Mother, the great sustainer whose body is the ground beneath every living thing, whose patience is the patience of mountains, whose abundance is the abundance of everything that grows from soil and returns to it.

Prithvi is not a goddess of drama or conflict. She is the goddess of what endures. While other deities move through the sky and the storms, she remains — steady, vast, unhurried. In the Atharvaveda she is addressed directly in one of the most beautiful hymns in all of ancient literature: “O Earth, my mother, set me securely with bliss in full accord with heaven.” She is the original home, the place everything comes from and everything returns to.

The Prahimee pendant carries that quality of enduring abundance in its form. A tall rounded rectangle of polished 18k gold, substantial, calm, with the confidence of something that has been exactly where it is for a very long time, presents a surface articulated by a series of recessed matte panels: two large ovals anchoring the top and bottom, four smaller circles flanking them at the sides. The composition is organic and deliberate, like the pattern of stones in an ancient riverbed or the arrangement of seeds in fertile ground, each form distinct, each one held in place by the polished frame that surrounds it.

The contrast between the polished outer surface and the matte recessed panels is the heart of the piece. The polished gold reflects and throws light outward. The matte panels absorb it, holding it quietly within — the way the earth holds what has been given to it, returning it slowly, over time, as something new.

In yellow gold the Prahimee pendant is warm and sovereign, the earth at its most luminous. In rose gold it is intimate and generous, the warmth of soil in afternoon sun. In white gold it is cool and composed, the earth in winter — patient, full of what is coming.
