Skigsreen Earrings

Cascading spiral disc column drop earrings in 18k gold, their descending form inspired by the path a satellite traces in its orbit around the earth.
Made to order.
Skigsreen Earrings draw their form from the orbital path — the precise curve that a satellite or celestial body follows as it moves around a larger mass, governed by the mathematics of gravity and velocity that Kepler described in the seventeenth century and Newton explained in the eighteenth.
The orbital path is not a circle but an ellipse: a stretched, closed curve whose mathematical elegance was one of the first demonstrations that the cosmos follows rules that can be expressed as equations.
As a result, the orbit became one of the defining images of the modern understanding of the universe: the satellite suspended in a precise balance between the pull of gravity and the momentum of its own motion, tracing the same path repeatedly as long as both forces are maintained.
Furthermore, when an orbital path is projected — when the three-dimensional ellipse of the orbit is displayed against the flat ground below, or when multiple orbits of slightly different inclinations are overlaid — the result is a cascading spiral: a series of overlapping curves that descend and rotate in the same visual rhythm that the Skigsreen Earrings carry.
The disc column = the satellite at its orbital node, the point where the path crosses from one hemisphere to another; the cascading stack = the accumulated paths of multiple passes, each one shifted slightly from the last.
The Design of the Skigsreen Earrings
The Skigsreen Earrings translate the cascading orbital path into 18k gold. Each piece is a column of spiral discs that descend from the ear on a hook — a series of circular elements that are both individually distinct and collectively describing a single continuous motion.
The discs decrease in size as they descend, so the column reads as a perspective view of a spiral receding into depth. As a result, the Skigsreen Earrings carry both the visual language of orbital motion and the quality of a form that is always in the process of completing its path.
The Orbital Cascade
The cascading spiral disc column is the soul of this design. Specifically, the sequence of discs creates a rhythm that reads as measured and purposeful — the discs at their intervals the way the orbital periods of satellites are measured and maintained with precision.
Worn as drop hook earrings, the Skigsreen Earrings descend from the ear in a long column that catches the light at each disc as the wearer moves. Furthermore, the hook allows the column to swing slightly with movement, so the cascade seems to orbit around its own axis.
In this way, the Skigsreen Earrings carry the essential quality of the orbital path: the beauty that belongs to something that has been precisely calculated and is therefore completely free within those calculations.
Skigsreen Earrings in 18k Gold
In rose gold the disc column glows with warmth, each element reading rich and circular against the warm surface. In white gold the Skigsreen Earrings turn cool and celestial, the discs catching light with the precision of satellite reflections. In yellow gold they radiate with full golden intensity, the cascading spiral reading bold and vivid as the orbital path at its most visible.
Whichever metal you choose, the cascade holds its motion.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Skigsreen earring was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The cascading disc column demands digital modeling: each disc must be placed at exactly the right interval and angle so the spiral reads as a true orbital cascade, the hook must hold the column at the correct balance point, and the two earrings of a pair must mirror each other exactly. Hand-finishing polishes every surface.
This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
A Made-to-Order Piece
Like every Friszman MD creation, the Skigsreen Earrings is made to order and hand-finished in 18k gold.
