Michael Pendants

Michael pendants take the form of a six-pointed star with softly organic arms and matte surface engraved with radiating flame lines, named for the Archangel Michael, commander of the heavenly armies across Judaism and Christianity. A large central gemstone anchors the star at its heart. Made to order in São Paulo in rose gold with ruby, white gold with sapphire, or yellow gold with diamond.

Description

Michael pendants draw their name and form from one of the most universally revered figures across three of the world’s great monotheistic traditions: the Archangel Michael, whose name in Hebrew, מִיכָאֵל (Mikhael), means “Who is like God?”. The question embedded in his name is simultaneously a statement of awe and a declaration of the incomparability of the divine. Michael is not merely a messenger but a warrior: the commander of the heavenly armies, the being who led the celestial forces against Lucifer in the primordial conflict whose outcome defined the structure of the spiritual cosmos.

In the Hebrew Bible, Michael appears in the Book of Daniel as the great prince who stands guard over the people of Israel, a protector of extraordinary power whose interventions in human affairs are recorded across centuries of sacred text. In the Book of Revelation, it is Michael who leads the war in heaven against the dragon, casting the ancient serpent and his angels out of the celestial realm. He is being responsible for rainfall, vegetation, and the sustenance of all living things, his wings so vast that they span from east to west. In Ethiopian Christian tradition, the feast of Saint Michael (Mikael) is celebrated monthly, making him the most frequently honored sacred figure in the Ethiopian liturgical calendar.

The form of the Michael pendant is the six-pointed star, one of the most ancient and cross-culturally charged geometric forms in human sacred art. In Jewish tradition it is the Magen David, the Shield of David, protector of Israel, whose six points have been associated with the six directions of space (north, south, east, west, up, down) and with the six days of creation. In Hindu yantra tradition, the shatkona, two interlocking equilateral triangles, represents the union of Shiva and Shakti, of masculine and feminine creative principles, of fire and water, of heaven and earth. In Solomonic magical tradition, the Seal of Solomon, a six-pointed star, was believed to be engraved on the ring that gave the biblical king his legendary power over spirits and the natural world.

The Friszman MD Michael pendant translates this ancient geometry into organic form. The six points of the star are not perfectly geometric but softened and individuated, each arm a distinct curved presence, the whole structure suggesting something grown rather than drawn, something that emerged from a living process rather than a drafting table. The matte surface of the pendant body is animated by delicate engraved lines that radiate from the center, wave-like, flame-like, suggesting energy moving outward from the gemstone at the center as light moves outward from a star. The central gem is large and dominant: not an accent but the source, the point around which the six-armed form organizes itself.

In Kabbalah, the six-pointed star encodes the sephirot of the Tree of Life in their arrangement: the six middle sephirot (Chesed, Gevurah, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod) forming the two interlocking triangles that compose the star, with Tifferet, Beauty, the heart of the tree, the point of balance between mercy and judgment, at the center. The gemstone at the center of the Michael pendant occupies exactly this position: the heart of the form, the point of synthesis, the place where all the arms converge and something larger than any single element becomes visible.

Available in 18-karat rose gold with ruby, white gold with sapphire, and yellow gold with diamond, each Michael pendant is made to order in São Paulo, Brazil, using precision 3D modeling and hand-finishing. The matte star body and the large central gem create a deliberate tension between the quiet and the brilliant, the form that holds, and the light that it holds.
