Lysee earrings are long twisted ribbon drops in 18-karat gold, a continuous spiral form inspired by the ancient Celtic spiral tradition of Newgrange, Hindu kundalini energy, and Norse rune carving. No gemstone. Made to order in São Paulo in rose, white, or yellow gold.
Lysee Earrings. At Newgrange in Ireland, a passage tomb built five thousand years before the Common Era and older than both Stonehenge and the pyramids of Giza, the walls of the inner chamber are covered with a single recurring form: the spiral. Not the tight coil of a spring but the open, expanding arc of a galaxy, a line that begins at a center point and turns continuously outward, or inward, depending on the direction you follow it. The people who carved those spirals into stone left no written language, no mythology that has survived. But the spiral itself speaks. It is the form of a shell, of a wave, of a galaxy observed from outside time. It is the shape of something that does not stop.
Lysee earring is the spiral made wearable. Each piece begins with a straight post that curves gently at the top, a clean entry point, a threshold, before descending into a long, continuously twisted ribbon of gold. The ribbon does not spiral in the mathematical sense but it shares the same visual logic: a plane of metal that has been turned, progressively, along its length, so that what begins as flat becomes dimensional, what begins as still becomes motion. The matte finish on the broad faces of the ribbon contrasts with the polished curve of the central spine, creating a play of reflected and absorbed light that changes as the earring moves.
The Celts understood the spiral as a symbol of eternal return, the sun’s journey from solstice to solstice, the journey of the soul through successive lives. At La Tène and Hallstatt, the great centers of Iron Age Celtic metalwork, gold torques and bronze fibulae were twisted in exactly this manner: the metal turned and returned upon itself to create an object that communicated both strength and continuity. The twist said: this does not end. The spiral form appears on Celtic warrior shields, on the illuminated pages of the Book of Kells, on the stone crosses of early Christian Ireland that adapted pagan forms without abandoning them.
In Hindu cosmology, the same form appears as kundalini, the coiled serpent energy that lies dormant at the base of the spine and rises, through spiritual practice, in a helical path through the chakras toward the crown. The Sanskrit texts describe this rising not as a linear progression but as a spiral: the energy turns around the central channel as it ascends, touching each energy center twice, once on each side, before moving upward. The Lysee earring, with its central ridge and paired faces, mirrors that structure, a spine around which two surfaces turn, each distinct, each necessary to the whole.
In Norse tradition, the spiral appears as the gateway mark, the rune carved into doorposts and ship prows to indicate passage between worlds. The Norse understood the cosmos as a series of nested spirals: Yggdrasil, the world tree, twisted in its roots; the Midgard Serpent, Jörmungandr, coiled around the ocean floor of the middle world; the drinking horn passed among the gods, its curved form a smaller echo of the larger cosmic spiral.
Lysee earrings are available in rose, white, and yellow gold, without gemstones, the gold itself is the statement. Each piece is made to order in São Paulo, Brazil, individually crafted and finished by hand. The hook closure allows the earring to move freely with the wearer, the twist catching and releasing light with every gesture, never the same twice, always in motion.
