Obheron Ring takes its name from Oberon — the fairy king who rules the liminal world between the human and the supernatural, whose presence in the forest at night is the presence of everything that daylight refuses to acknowledge.
Oberon is older than Shakespeare’s version of him: he first appears in medieval French romance as Auberon, the dwarf king of the fairies, before Shakespeare placed him in the enchanted wood of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as the sovereign of all fairy life.
As a result, Oberon is not merely a literary character but a figure who carries centuries of accumulated meaning about the nature of magical sovereignty. Furthermore, the taijitu — the yin-yang symbol of Taoist tradition — describes exactly the quality Oberon embodies: the balance of opposites, the dynamic equilibrium of forces that appear to be in conflict but are, at the deepest level, continuous with each other.
In the forest of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, nothing is what it appears: lovers exchange, identities shift, the mortal and the magical interpenetrate. The Obheron Ring carries that quality: the taijitu as the geometric language of the world Oberon rules — where darkness and light are the same circle.
The Design of the Obheron Ring
The Obheron Ring translates the yin-yang of the fairy king’s liminal world into 18k gold. The band incorporates the taijitu — the circular form of two interlocking tear-shapes, each containing a point of the other’s nature — as its central motif.
A gemstone is set within the form: a diamond, ruby, or sapphire that reads as the concentrated point of the opposite within the design, the way each half of the yin-yang contains a circle of its counterpart. As a result, the Obheron Ring reads as both philosophical diagram and fairy talisman: the most ancient symbol of dynamic balance, made wearable in gold.
The Balance of Opposites
The taijitu form is the soul of this design. Specifically, the interlocking curves of the yin-yang create a form of perpetual motion held in a circle — neither force dominating, each flowing into the other without interruption.
Worn on the hand, the Obheron Ring carries that quality of balance: something that is always in dialogue with itself. Furthermore, the gemstone at the heart of the form catches the light within the curved gold, so the stone reads as the still point at the center of the motion.
In this way, the Obheron Ring carries Oberon’s essential quality: the sovereignty that belongs to the figure who stands exactly at the threshold, belonging to both worlds equally.
Obheron Ring in 18k Gold and Coloured Stones
In rose gold the taijitu form glows with warmth, set with a ruby that burns at its centre like fire in the enchanted wood at night. In white gold the Obheron Ring turns cool and luminous, a sapphire reading within the form with the blue of moonlit clearings in a midsummer forest.
In yellow gold it radiates with full golden intensity, a brilliant diamond at the center — the fairy king’s own light, sovereign and complete.
Whichever stone you choose, the balance holds.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Obheron Ring was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The taijitu form demands digital modeling: the interlocking curves must be perfectly symmetrical so the form reads as a true circle of balanced forces, the gemstone setting must place the stone at exactly the right position within the design, and the ring must sit comfortably for daily wear.
Hand-finishing polishes every surface to a high shine. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
