Elongated bar stud earrings in 18k gold with an organic cell-texture surface, their pattern drawn from the microscopic cellular structure of the forest.
Made to order.
Skogsreen Earrings take their name from the Scandinavian word for the forest — skog, the deep woodland that is one of the defining presences in the landscape and mythology of the Nordic world.
In Norse tradition, the forest was not merely a backdrop to the great events of mythology but a world in its own right: the place where Odin hung on Yggdrasil the world tree for nine days and nights to receive the runes; the place where the elves and vættir dwelled; the place where the boundary between the human world and the otherworld was most permeable.
As a result, to enter the deep forest was to enter a different quality of reality — one that operated by different rules, where time moved differently and where the sacred was closer to the surface.
Furthermore, the Skogsreen Earrings draw from a second quality of the forest: its cellular life, the microscopic world that makes the visible forest possible. Wood cells, lichen cells, the polygonal structures of bark and moss — the forest is built from a repeating organic geometry that covers every surface, that gives each tree its particular texture, that makes the forest both one thing and endlessly various.
The organic cell texture of the Skogsreen Earrings carries that microscopic world onto the surface of the bar stud: the forest in miniature, the organic geometry of life held in gold.
The Design of the Skogsreen Earrings
The Skogsreen Earrings translate the organic cell texture of the forest into 18k gold. Each piece is a clean, elongated bar stud whose entire surface is covered in an organic cellular pattern: irregular polygons that tile the surface of the bar the way wood cells tile the cross-section of a branch, each cell distinct and yet the whole reading as a unified texture.
As a result, the Skogsreen Earrings carry both the minimal authority of the bar form and the living complexity of the forest surface.
The Cell Texture
The organic cellular surface is the soul of this design. Specifically, the irregular polygons create a surface that reads as both natural and precise — not the regular geometry of a manufactured pattern but the ordered irregularity of a living structure. Worn as studs, the Skogsreen Earrings present the textured bar face forward with composed authority. Furthermore, the cellular pattern catches the light differently at each cell wall and each cell interior, so the surface seems to breathe and shift as the light changes. In this way, the Skogsreen Earrings carry the essential quality of the forest itself: the sense that what appears from a distance as uniform reveals, on closer inspection, an inexhaustible variety.
Skogsreen Earrings in 18k Gold
In rose gold the cellular bar glows with warmth, the organic texture reading rich and alive like bark in evening light. In white gold the Skogsreen Earrings turn cool and precise, the cell texture reading with the clarity of lichen on pale stone. In yellow gold they radiate with full golden intensity — the forest cells in the most vivid material, the organic world made golden. Whichever metal you choose, the cellular texture holds its pattern.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Skogsreen earring was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing.
The organic cell texture demands digital modeling: the cellular pattern must be placed with naturalistic consistency so the surface reads as a specific organic texture rather than a generic pattern, and the two earrings of a pair must carry matching textures.
Hand-finishing polishes the raised cell walls to a high shine. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
A Made-to-Order Piece
Like every Friszman MD creation, the Skogsreen Earrings is made to order and hand-finished in 18k gold.
