Selienne Earrings are long tapered blade studs in 18k gold, inspired by Selene, the Greek Titaness of the Moon. Three raised disc accents represent the triple phases of the lunar cycle, waxing, full, and waning. Hand-finished in Sao Paulo. Available in rose, white, and yellow gold.

Description

Selienne Earrings are a distillation of moonlight into form, a long, tapered blade of 18k gold that descends from the ear in a single uninterrupted gesture, as clean and deliberate as the crescent moon emerging from cloud cover. Named for Selene, the ancient Greek Titaness who drove her silver chariot across the night sky and illuminated the world below, the Selienne Earrings carry in their silhouette the arc of that celestial passage: narrow at the top where the stud meets the ear, widening gently through the body, then tapering again to a fine point at the base, exactly as the crescent moon widens at its heart and narrows at its tips.

Along the lower third of each earring, three small raised disc forms are clustered in a gentle diagonal, graduated in size, matte-textured, and ringed with a fine polished edge. These three discs are the heart of the Selienne mythology. In ancient traditions across the Mediterranean, the moon was understood not as a single object but as a being of three natures: the waxing crescent, the full circle, the waning curve. The Greeks called these three aspects Artemis the hunter, Selene the driver, and Hecate the keeper of thresholds. The Romans knew them as Diana, Luna, and Trivia. In Mesopotamia, the moon god Sin was said to appear in three registers of light: the first sliver of the new month, the blaze of the full moon, and the fading of the old. The three discs on the Selienne Earrings represent this triple nature, three moments in a single continuous cycle, pressed into gold.

The body of the earring is finished in a long, sweeping matte surface that gives the piece a quality of soft luminescence rather than sharp reflection. This is deliberate: moonlight does not flash or dazzle, it diffuses, it fills, it settles over the world with a completeness that sunlight never achieves. The Selienne Earrings are designed to do the same on the ear, casting a gentle presence rather than commanding attention through brightness alone.

Across cultures, the moon has been the measure of time, the regulator of tide and crop and menstruation, the domain of prophecy and dreaming. In ancient Egypt, Khonsu — the moon god whose name means the traveler, crossed the night sky in a crescent prowled barque, bringing light to those lost in darkness and healing to the sick. In Japan, Tsukuyomi, the moon god born from the right eye of Izanagi, rules the night realm with a stillness and clarity that mirrors the reflective surface of still water. In Incan cosmology, Mama Quilla, the mother moon, was the guardian of women, the keeper of the calendar, and a goddess of equal standing to Inti the sun. The Selienne Earrings wear this inheritance: they are a piece for those who identify with the lunar rather than the solar, with patience rather than urgency, with the deep intelligence of the reflective rather than the blazing.

Available in 18k rose gold, 18k white gold, and 18k yellow gold. In white gold, the Selienne Earrings achieve their most literally lunar quality, cool, silver-toned, and quietly radiant, they are the closest approximation in metal to the color of moonlight itself. In rose gold, the piece takes on warmth and intimacy, connecting to the many cultures that associated the moon with feminine creative power. In yellow gold, the traditional richness of the metal gives the piece gravity and timelessness, anchoring the celestial concept in the oldest of precious materials. Each pair is individually designed using 3D parametric software and hand-finished by artisans in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
