Nyx Earrings
$0.01
Teardrop earrings in 18k gold, each set with a ruby, sapphire, or diamond at their heart. The Nyx Earrings are named for the primordial Greek goddess of night — older than Zeus, mother of Sleep, Death, and the Fates — shaped like the darkness that contains a single point of light.
Made to order.
Nyx Earrings take their name from Nyx — the goddess of night, the void, one of the oldest presences in Greek cosmology. Nyx was not a god who arrived later; she emerged from Chaos itself, among the first beings to exist, before the Titans and long before the Olympians.
As a result, she is older than Zeus, older than the world as most people understood it. Even Zeus was said to fear her: when Hypnos — the god of sleep, her son — needed to hide from Zeus’s anger, he hid in his mother’s embrace, and Zeus did not pursue him there.
Furthermore, Nyx’s children are the forces that govern human experience at its deepest level: Hypnos (Sleep), Thanatos (Death), Nemesis (Retribution), Eris (Discord), the Moirai (the Fates), and Hemera (Day).
She is the mother of both night and its opposite, the one who contains darkness and light in the same form. The Nyx Earrings carry her quality: the teardrop — the shape of a night sky seen through clear water, dark and luminous and complete.
The Design of the Nyx Earrings
The Nyx Earrings translate the primordial quality of night into 18k gold. Each piece is a teardrop — a smooth, tapering form that descends from the ear with the composed authority of something that has been present from the beginning.
A gemstone is set within the teardrop: a diamond, ruby, or sapphire that reads as the concentrated point of light within the darkness, the way a single star reads in the night sky.
As a result, the Nyx Earrings carry both the quality of night and its essential paradox: darkness that contains light, the void that produces everything.
The Night That Holds the Light
The teardrop form is the soul of this design. Specifically, the smooth tapering shape creates a form of absolute composure — nothing added, nothing missing, the descent from widest to finest executed without interruption.
Worn as drops, the Nyx Earrings descend from the ear with a steady, unhurried presence. Furthermore, the gemstone at the heart catches the light within the surrounding gold, so the stone seems to glow from inside the darkness of the form. In this way, the Nyx Earrings carry the quality of night itself: a presence older and larger than the light it contains.
Nyx Earrings in 18k Gold and Colored Gemstones
In rose gold the teardrop glows with warmth, set with a ruby that burns at its heart like a red star in the night sky. In white gold the Nyx Earrings turn cool and deep, a sapphire reading with blue-black intensity within the teardrop.
In yellow gold they radiate with full golden intensity, a brilliant diamond at the center — the most vivid point of light within the composed primordial form. Each version gives Nyx’s darkness a different quality of light to hold.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Nyx earring was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The teardrop demands perfection in its simplicity: the taper must be perfectly smooth and consistent, the widest point must sit at precisely the right position so the form reads as resolved, and the two earrings must mirror each other exactly in shape and weight.
Hand-finishing polishes every surface to a mirror shine. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
A Made-to-Order Piece
