Myrina Ring

Myrina ring takes its name from Myrina — one of the greatest queens in the Amazon tradition of Greek mythology. The Amazons were the warrior women who built their own civilization, trained their daughters in archery and warfare, and acknowledged no man as ruler or master.

However, Myrina was not merely a warrior: she was a conqueror of extraordinary range. According to the ancient historian Diodorus Siculus, she led an Amazon army of thirty-thousand-foot soldiers and three thousand cavalries across north of Africa, defeated the Gorgons in battle, and then swept north through Egypt, Syria, and Phrygia, establishing cities wherever she settled her forces.

As a result, the city of Myrina — in the Aegean — was named for her. Furthermore, her armies carried the spirit of the Amazon tradition into every territory they entered: the understanding that a civilization ruled by women, trained in war and governance alike, was not only possible but formidable.
