Lachesis Earrings

$0.01

Crossing wire earrings in 18k gold, their form drawn from the thread of life that Lachesis measures. Named for the second of the three Fates — she who allots the span of every life — the Lachesis earrings hold the moment the measure becomes fixed.

Made to order in rose, white, or yellow gold.

Description

Lachesis earrings take their name from Lachesis — the second of the three Moirai, the Fates of Greek mythology. The Moirai were the daughters of Zeus and Themis, weavers who controlled the destiny of every living being. Clotho, the first sister, spun the thread of life onto her spindle. Atropos, the third, cut it with her shears at the appointed moment.

However, it was Lachesis who stood between them. Her name means ‘she who allots.’ She measured the thread. She decided its length. As a result, she determined not how life began or how it ended, but how much of it there would be — the span of years, the weight of a life, the precise measure of what each person was given.

Furthermore, she did this without exception. There was no appeal and no negotiation. The measure was the measure. The Lachesis earrings are named for that quiet, absolute act: the crossing of the thread, the moment the length became fixed.

The Design of the Lachesis Earrings

The Lachesis earrings translate the thread and the measure into 18k gold. Each piece is formed of fine wires that cross over each other in a precise, deliberate pattern — the visual language of thread being measured, of lines intersecting at the point where a decision is made.

The crossings are clean and intentional, neither random nor overly complex. As a result, the Lachesis earrings read as both minimal and deeply significant: simple forms that carry the weight of everything they represent. Therefore, they are earrings that hold their meaning quietly.

The Thread and the Measure

The crossing wires are the soul of this design. Specifically, each intersection is the point where the thread doubles back on itself — the moment of measurement, the place where the length is confirmed.

Worn as drops, the Lachesis earrings fall from the ear with a composed elegance. Furthermore, the fine wires catch the light differently at the crossings than along their length, so the earrings seem to shift between linear and dimensional as the wearer moves.

In this way, they carry the quality of the Fates themselves: something that appears simple from a distance and reveals its complexity only when you look closely enough to see the threads.

Lachesis Earrings in 18k Gold

In rose gold the crossing wires glow with warmth, the intersections reading like glowing threads held in amber light. In white gold the Lachesis earrings turn cool and precise, the wires crossing with the clarity of lines drawn in silver air.

In yellow gold they radiate with full golden intensity — the most direct echo of the golden thread that Lachesis measured, the precious material of a life weighed and found sufficient. Whichever metal you choose, the crossing holds.

Craftsmanship and 3D Precision

Each Lachesis earring was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The crossing wire form demands digital modeling: every wire must be consistent in thickness, each crossing must sit at exactly the right angle, and the two earrings of a pair must mirror each other perfectly.

Additionally, the overall form must hang correctly so the crossings face outward when worn. Hand-finishing then polishes every wire to a high shine. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.

A Made-to-Order Piece

Like every Friszman MD creation, the Lachesis earrings are made to order and hand-finished in 18k gold.
