Sagittarius is associated with Chiron, the wisest of the centaurs, a figure so different from his kind that he seems almost to belong to a different mythology entirely. While the other centaurs were wild, violent, and ruled by instinct, Chiron was the son of the Titan Cronus, and he devoted his long life to the education of the greatest heroes of Greek mythology. Achilles learned the arts of war and medicine from Chiron. Jason was prepared for his voyage by Chiron. Asclepius, the god of healing, received his knowledge from Chiron. Hercules himself passed through his hands. To be taught by Chiron was to be marked for greatness, and yet Chiron sought no glory for himself, only the continuation of wisdom through those capable of carrying it forward.

When Chiron was accidentally wounded by one of Hercules’ poisoned arrows, a wound that could not be healed even by the greatest healer of the ancient world, he chose to surrender his immortality rather than endure endless pain. Zeus immortalized him in the stars as the constellation Sagittarius, a testament to wisdom, selfless sacrifice, and the understanding that some things are worth more than living forever.

The Sagittarius Ring is crafted in 18k yellow gold with a sculptural band that swells gently toward a wide, oval face. The surface is finished in a warm matte texture, into which the Sagittarius glyph rises in high relief, an arrow aimed upward, always forward, the most directional symbol in the entire zodiac. The polished shoulders complete the piece with adventurous elegance, framing the matte face with a warmth that feels entirely in keeping with the fire sign it honors.

The diagonal arrow of the glyph in high relief requires precise modeling to achieve the sense of momentum that defines the symbol, the line must move, the point must be sharp, the crossbar must sit at exactly the right position.
