Meyssa Earrings
$0.01
Angular blades drop earrings in 18k gold, each set with a ruby, sapphire, or diamond. The Meyssa earrings are named for Meissa — the blue-white star at the crown of Orion and the celestial marker of the Amazon warrior tradition. A star worn as a blade.
Made to order in rose, white, or yellow gold.
Meyssa earrings take their name from Meissa — the star that marks the head of Orion, one of the brightest and most recognisable constellations in the night sky. Meissa is a blue-white supergiant, Lambda Orionis, burning at the crown of the great hunter with the cool intensity of a blade held in blue light.
In Greek mythology, Orion was the mightiest hunter who ever lived — son of Poseidon, beloved of Eos the goddess of dawn, a figure of such physical power and beauty that his death by Artemis’s arrow (or, in other versions, by a scorpion sent by Gaia) was mourned and commemorated in the sky.
As a result, Zeus placed Orion among the stars where he hunts eternally, his belt of three stars the most famous asterism in the world. Furthermore, the star Meissa at his head carries its own associations: with the Amazons, the warrior women who acknowledged no man as master, who were connected to the Orion myth through their martial tradition and the same sky they navigated by.
The Meyssa earrings draw from both the star at Orion’s crown and the warrior quality of the Amazon tradition: angular, precise, and made to be worn by someone who does not need permission to be noticed.
The Design of the Meyssa Earrings
The Meyssa earrings translate the blade-like quality of Meissa’s light into 18k gold. Each piece is an angular drop — a form of sharp geometric cuts that descend from the ear with the precision of a warrior’s weapon. The angles are deliberate and clean, the edges catching the light in narrow, intense planes. A gemstone is set within the angular form: a diamond, ruby, or sapphire that reads as the concentrated point of the blade’s tip, or the cool star at the crown of Orion. As a result, the Meyssa earrings carry both the celestial and the martial in the same form: a star worn as a weapon, a weapon shaped like a star.
The Blade and the Star
The angular form is the soul of this design. Specifically, the sharp geometric cuts create a visual tension that makes the earring seem ready to move, the way a blade seems ready to move even when it is still.
Worn as drops, the Meyssa earrings flash from the ear as the wearer turns, the angular faces catching and releasing the light with the sudden brightness of starlight through clear air. Furthermore, the gemstone at the heart of the form adds a point of deep colour within the angular gold — the warm red of the ruby, the cool blue of the sapphire, the white fire of the diamond — so the earring carries the intensity of Meissa’s own light.
In this way, the Meyssa earrings carry the quality of both their sources: the precision of the star and the decisiveness of the warrior.
Meyssa Earrings in 18k Gold and Coloured Stones
In rose gold the angular form glows with warmth, the blade-like cuts set with a ruby that burns at the earring’s heart like a red star seen through warm air. In white gold the Meyssa earrings turn cool and exact, the angles reading with the blue-white clarity of Meissa itself, set with a sapphire that deepens the celestial quality.
In yellow gold they radiate with full golden intensity, set with a brilliant diamond — the sharpest, clearest point of light in the angular form. Each pairing gives the same warrior geometry a different quality of brilliance.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Meyssa earring was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The angular blade form demands digital modeling: every cut must be placed at the exact angle so the form reads as both deliberate and dynamic, the gemstone setting must hold the stone securely within the angular structure, and the two earrings of a pair must mirror each other exactly.
Additionally, the sharp angles must be smooth enough for comfortable wear while retaining their visual sharpness. Hand-finishing polishes every surface to a high shine. This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
A Made-to-Order Piece
Like every Friszman MD creation, the Meyssa earrings are made to order and hand-finished in 18k gold.
