Aleph-a Ring
$0.01
Aleph-a ring in 18k gold — the ancient Hebrew letter Aleph rising in luminous polished relief from a frosted matte dome, inspired by the Kabbalistic Book of Formation. A meditation on the moment creation emerges from formlessness. Available in yellow gold, rose gold, and white gold.
Made to order in São Paulo, Brazil.
Aleph-a ring begins where creation begins — in formlessness. Named for the letter Aleph, the first and most sacred of all Hebrew letters, the Aleph-a ring draws from the Sefer Yetzirah — the ancient Kabbalistic Book of Formation, where G’d made the letter Aleph king over Breath and tied a crown to it.
Among all twenty-two sacred letters through which the universe was formed, Aleph holds a singular position — not merely the first, but the mediating principle, the balancing force between all opposites. Between fire and water. Between expansion and contraction. Between the spoken and the unspoken. It is the silent letter, present in every utterance, governing the breath beneath every word, and yet never making a sound of its own. It is also the first letter of emet, אמת — truth, and of Elohim, G’d, and of Adam, the first human being.
The Aleph-a Ring and the Aleph Ring
The Aleph ring and the Aleph-a ring share this mythology entirely — the same sacred letter, the same Kabbalistic soul — but they speak of it from two opposite and complementary positions, and together they tell the complete story.
Where the Aleph ring bears the letter as a cutout — a window, a void, an opening through which light passes and breath moves freely — the Aleph-a ring presents the letter as presence. As emergence. As the word made manifest.
The Design of the Aleph-a Ring
The broad dome of 18k gold in the Aleph-a ring carries a matte, frosted surface — a texture that evokes the undifferentiated formlessness that existed before the first creative act. In Kabbalistic thought, before the universe existed there was only the Infinite, the Ein Sof, the endless — an absolute without boundary, form, or definition. From that infinite ground, creation began with a single act of divine language. A letter was spoken into the void.
And here, in the Aleph-a ring, the letter rises from that frosted ground in brilliant polished relief. Not carved away. Not absent. Present, solid, luminous, catching the light against the matte field from which it emerges. The contrast between the quiet matte surface and the vivid polished letter is the contrast between formlessness and form — between the silence before the word and the word itself.
Aleph-a Ring in 18k Gold
The Aleph-a ring is available in yellow gold, rose gold, and white gold — each a different quality of light rising from the same sacred silence. Yellow gold is the most luminous — the polished letter glowing warmly against the frosted dome, ancient and ceremonial. Rose gold brings intimacy, the warmth of the metal making the contrast between matte and polished feel personal and devotional. White gold is the most architectural: the coolness of the metal sharpening the contrast, making the letter read with absolute precision.
Made to Order in São Paulo
Worn alone, the Aleph-a ring is entirely complete — a ring that carries in its contrast of textures the entire act of creation compressed into a dome of gold. Worn alongside the Aleph ring, the two pieces complete each other: one speaking of the letter as breath, the other of the letter as form.
All Friszman MD pieces are made to order in Brazil, crafted individually and finished by hand.
