Shanee Ring
$0.01
A sinusoidal wave-lattice band in 18k gold, its serpentine form drawing from the universal symbol shared by ancient Egypt, Hindu mythology, Norse tradition, and Mesopotamia.
Made to order. Priced Individually.
Shanee Ring takes its name and its form from the serpent-wave — the sinusoidal line that appears as a fundamental symbol in virtually every ancient civilization on earth, always carrying a similar quality: the motion of water, the body of the serpent, the undulation of the earth’s energy.
In ancient Egypt, the serpent Apep was the force of chaos that the solar boat of Ra had to defeat each night on its journey through the underworld, while the serpent Mehen coiled protectively around Ra’s boat, offering protection through the same form that elsewhere represented danger.
In Hindu tradition, Ananta Shesha — the endless serpent — is the cosmic bed on which Vishnu reclines between the cycles of creation, its thousand heads forming the canopy above the dreaming god. As a result, in Hindu cosmology the serpent-wave is the ground of existence itself: the form of rest between worlds.
Furthermore, in Norse mythology, Jormungandr the world serpent encircles Midgard in its sinusoidal form — and in Mesopotamian tradition, the primordial Tiamat was herself a serpentine force, the salt-water ocean whose body was divided to make the sky and the earth. The mathematical sinusoidal — the wave function — is the modern name for the same form: the shape of every wave, every oscillation, every periodic motion in the physical world.
The Shanee Ring carries that universal form: the serpent-wave that every civilization found and named differently but recognized as fundamental.
The Design of the Shanee Ring
The Shanee Ring translates the universal serpent-wave into 18k gold. The band is a sinusoidal wave-lattice: the wave form woven into itself to create a band that reads as both flowing and structured, both organic and geometric.
In two-tone versions, the two metals alternate through the wave-lattice, so warm and cool move through the serpentine form in the way two currents move through water. As a result, the Shanee Ring reads as a band that is in perpetual motion even when still: the wave form as the ground of the ring.
The Universal Wave
The sinusoidal wave-lattice is the soul of this design. Specifically, the wave form creates a surface of continuous motion across the band — a line that rises and falls without stopping, that crosses itself and returns, that describes the same quality of energy that every ancient civilization found in the serpent.
Worn on the finger, the Shanee Ring carries the wave-lattice in every direction, the undulating form always visible from any angle. Furthermore, in two-tone versions the alternating metals make the wave’s crest and trough visible as distinct qualities.
In this way, the Shanee Ring carries the essential quality of the universal serpent-wave: the form that describes motion, water, energy, and the underlying rhythm of the living world.
Shanee Ring in 18k Gold
In rose gold the wave-lattice glows with warmth, the sinusoidal form reading rich and alive. In white gold the Shanee Ring turns cool and precise, the wave reading with the clarity of water in motion.
In yellow gold it radiates with full golden intensity, the serpent-wave at its most vivid. In two-tone versions, contrasting metals move through the sinusoidal form, carrying both the warmth of fire and the coolness of water in the same wave.
Whichever metal you choose, the wave holds its motion.
Craftsmanship and 3D Precision
Each Shanee Ring was developed in 3D modeling software and brought to life through precision 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing. The sinusoidal wave-lattice demands digital modeling: the wave must be mathematically precise in its periodicity so it reads as a true sinusoidal, the lattice structure must interlace correctly, and the ring must be available in precise sizes while maintaining the wave’s proportion. Hand-finishing polishes every surface.
This is the precision that only the Friszman MD process can deliver reliably.
A Made-to-Order Piece
Like every Friszman MD creation, the Shanee Ring is made to order and hand-finished in 18k gold.
